  5. gabi-you have lifted my spirits! i'm going some alright, i just have no idea where. i'm in that "in between" stage. what i did before no longer satisfies, and i haven't been led yet to the next stage. wait and watch, wait and watch...

  6. I know what you are talking about... I'm going through the same, feeling confuse and curious at the same time.
So what I do is to take one step at a time, enjoying the moment... devoid of pass and future.
Do the same, go with the flow and let the universe guide you. So far is looking great!

  7. Speaking of your " I wonder" photo, wow, what I can see of your face resembles mine! Your nose, your eyes, your hair looks the same color too. Your glasses could be mine as well. Hmm, I am half Polish too.

Last night, there was a most fascinating PBS program on human geneology. There were eight people who agreed to have their genetics and geneology tracked for the program- people including Yoyo Ma, Meryl Streep, Mike Nichols, Malcolm Gladwell and Eva Longoria. With the latest in gene technology, they tracked each person's ancestors back a few hundred years and guess what- several of these eight individuals shared a common ancestor! Yoyo Ma shared an ancestor with Eva Langoria and Mike Nichols shared an ancestor with Meryl Streep. Malcolm Gladwell shared a gene with the host of the program which stunned them both! There is so much more kinship in the human race than most of us imagine. We actually can all be tracked back to about 5 "family" groups of people coming from as many different regions of the earth....

  8. I see we have much in common, from Patricia McKillip to Wendell Berry (Whom I've met; he's a Kentuckian), Carolina Chocolate Drops to curling flower petals. I like your photos, and your thoughts.

  9. Here's a song that might have gone well with this post; I like Joni Mitchell's version too.

  10. tr-i'm not surprised by the close connections they found. we are much more connected than we like to know. if everyone is related, more or less, does that mean we have to play nice? gee.
i remember when the solidarity started in poland, and i saw masses of poles gathered. i thought: i look just like them! a visceral connection.
in the interest of full disclosure, my hair color is not my own!

  11. sharmon-that's a lot of "in common", and i look forward to sharing more thoughts. i saw that annie ross clip when i was noodling around, opted for the one with that cigarette holder!
you have a vision and commitment to your art that astounds me. i'm late to the process.

  13. Your Mary Oliver Poem for the Day.....

    The Swan

Did you too see it, drifting, all night, on the black river?
Did you see it in the morning, rising into the silvery air -
    An armful of white blossoms,
A perfect commotion of silk and linen as it leaned
into the bondage of its wings; a snowbank, a bank of lilies,
Biting the air with its black beak?
Did you hear it, fluting and whistling
A shrill dark music - like the rain pelting the trees - like a waterfall
    Knifing down the black ledges?
And did you see it, finally, just under the clouds -
A white cross Streaming across the sky, its feet
Like black leaves, its wings Like the stretching light of the river?
And did you feel it, in your heart, how it pertained to everything?
And have you too finally figured out what beauty is for?
And have you changed your life?
