  1. According to the news, coyotes are starting to pop up in Ohio, though I have yet to see one. Great black-and-white photography.

  2. Although the Stiletto Sisters are good, they don't come close to these photos! It's hard to say which one I like best.

  3. kirk-coyotes show up in almost every state, even some in new york city! they tend to be nocturnal, so unless you're out after dark, you may not catch a glimpse.
    and thanks!
jim-thanks. they're not as ho-hum as i first thought. glad i controlled my "delete" finger.

  4. Your dune photos capture the wonderful shadows of winter light beautifully. Gorgeous!

I love coyotes. They still live in some of the coastal canyons of San Diego. I have read that in areas where they do not feel threatened by human persecution, the do roam in the daytime as well as at night. And I have read further that the more they are hunted in an area, the more they reproduce!!!

  6. All this talk of coyotes made me think of something. In the Sam Shepard play "True West", a character remarks that the coyotes in suburban LA bark instead of howl, as they're gradually becoming domesticated. Anyone know if that's true or not?

  7. kirk-from my rather brief research, they bark, howl, yelp, and huff. this link has samples of all four. what all this has to do with domestication, i know not.
