buddha was right

attachment causes suffering.

my camera broke.
i have to send it to texas for repair.
fortunately, it's still under warranty.

but, but...
it's going to be gone for a minimum of 2 weeks!
(nothing like being forcibly detached from yet another thing
from which i need to detach.)

also fortunately, i have been very graciously given a loaner camera.
of course, i don't know how to use it.
that i can rectify, since i've already downloaded the manual.

but, but...
ok, enough whining.

i've been
vacillating about getting a better camera for a while now. guess this is my chance to make up my mind. there are just so damn many ways to go. doing the research has just confused me even more. pixels, sensor size, lenses, cost, memory cards, dust cleaning, video, batteries, battery life, etc, etc, etc. then there's all the stuff about which i am more or less totally ignorant, and likely to remain that way, lest my head explode.

so any suggestions or guidance would be greatly appreciated. please, chime in.
or just tell me what to do!

  1. I'm so sorry to hear this but perhaps the universe is moving you forward in your creative endeavors. I have no suggestions. Since I got drunk and loaned my nikon to some woman years ago I haven't had one. are you and okatb coordinating your music and photos? I had not heard of trampled by turtles before today. I love their sound. Thanks for more.

  2. tag, that's the way i'm taking it-as in, get off your butt and get serious!
okatb and i don't coordinate, but our minds/music/photos often end up in the same place at the same time. maybe we should, and avoid looking like copycats!
i just found trampled today as well. if you like them, check out the carolina chocolate drops, too. that's courtesy of okatb.

  3. You posted first, so.....

Cameras. I know nothing. Wish I did. I know that could be remedied, but I hate reading instructions. It makes me feel so stupid. And I really do love fuzzy photos. Like old fashioned Graflex or Holga images.

  4. kass-not being able to follow printed instructions is a brain organization issue-absolutely nothing to do with intelligence, and easily remedied. you're so damn smart it blazes out, we get sunburned!
and i like fuzzy too, just like i see without my glasses. a kinder, gentler world.

  5. Sorry to hear that.. but things happen for a reason, maybe it's time for change.

    I got a canon 7D - i'm in love with it.
u can get technical details at:

    good luck

  6. gabi-thanks for the info. i like dpreview. everything else is changing, why not this too?
